Fire / Wave / Ice: a priority system that works

You have heard of the Eisenhower matrix: urgent/important, urgent/not important, and so on. It is a great framework, but it is clinical. It does not feel like something you want to interact with every day.

Rise uses three elemental icons instead:

Fire — urgent. Must be done today. If you do not do it, something burns.

Wave — in flow. Should be done soon, but not panic mode. Ride the wave.

Ice — parked. Good idea, but not now. Frozen until thawed.

In practice, you assign a task to one of the three states with one tap. The UI color-codes them. Your morning briefing surfaces Fire tasks first. Your evening review asks if anything needs to thaw from Ice into Wave.

The trick with any priority system is to use it consistently. Fire / Wave / Ice is memorable enough that you will.
